Exotic Seychelles

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

I always had the urge to tick Seychelles off my bucket list. Having been to Mauritius and all, I thought, why not? But I have to give credit where its due. This place is a true tropical paradise. With exotic trees lining the beaches for miles, it is the perfect beach lover’s heaven with no shortage of natural beauty. It’s almost too beautiful for words. And while the Seychelles are most often associated with honeymoons, the truth is that there’s so much more than just romantic beach resorts.

Mahe is the largest island in the Seychelles and home to its only international airport, so getting here for us was not hectic. We spent most of the afternoon exploring the resort and soaking in the beautiful sunset views.  Early next morning, we decided to visit Victoria, the country’s capital which is also Africa’s smallest capital city. There is a night market that only runs every Wednesday, so if you are planning your visit to Mahé Island, make sure you are there on a Wednesday so you find some local stuff and delicacies on the night market. We also got to visit the Victoria Clock tower, which looks like a mini Big Ben and the Takamaka rum distillery.

The beautiful views, the isolated feeling, and the wonderful biodiversity are all highlights of Baie Ternay Marine National Park and one of the best snorkeling spots. Stop by at Le Jardin Du Roi Spice Garden which keeps up with the original French tradition of the 18th century spice trade and not forgetting the National Botanical Gardens If you are interested to know about the flora and fauna of the Seychelles.
