Your domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi/Kisoro will be a real treat. Flying over the third largest lake in the world will give you an incredible perspective of just how beautiful Uganda is. Lake Victoria is dotted with several islands and fishing villages which can be seen at taking off and landing. On arrival to Kihihi, you will be met by a Holiday Bazaar representative who will transfer you in a 4X4 vehicle to your lodge in Bwindi!

The transfer from Kihihi airstrip to the Buhoma sector of Bwindi will take around one and a half hours and the road can be a little bit bumpy, it does give you enough time to contemplate your gorilla adventure ahead as well as being captivated by the incredible scenery synonymous with this part of Uganda.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi N.P

There are four sectors contained within Bwindi, Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. Depending on your Lodge location, you will be transferred to the Park Headquarters closest to your lodge first thing in the morning ready for your Gorilla adventure.

Your Gorilla Trekking experience is finally here, hope your camera is charged and you are ready for what lies ahead. An early start will see you transfer to the Park Headquarters for a briefing with the Uganda Wildlife Authority guides. An advance party of guides will have gone ahead into the forest to locate where the gorillas slept the previous night and will have begun to track their movements. These guides will communicate with your team via a walkie-talkie and the trek into the forest will begin.

Locating the Gorillas can take a few hours or the whole day depending on how far they have moved from the place they spent the previous night. For conservation purposes, the amount of time allowed with the Gorillas is 1 hour. As you trek through the forest you will appreciate why the forest is called impenetrable. There is also a multitude of other animals that you might encounter including antelopes and rare monkeys not to mention the beauty of the forest itself. Once you have completed the trek you will return to the lodge, for a well-earned rest and time to reflect on a truly magical experience.

At Holiday Bazaar we try and support the communities that we interact with as part of the business we run, with a view to minimizing the impact we have on communities as well as ensuring that they too benefit from our operations. One such community in the Buhoma area of Bwindi is called Ride 4 a Woman. You will get to visit these incredible women and learn more about their story!

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Kihihi/Kisoro for your flight back to Entebbe. The drive from your lodge to the airstrip shouldn't take more than one and a half hours.
