numerous retail outlets for the “serious shopper”. To whet your appetite,
we have described a few of the more well-known malls in each of these
areas.
|
|
Johannesburg
|
Cape Town
|
Durban
|
|
Sandton Square - Sandton City is one of the
most comprehensive and sophisticated shopping centres in the country.
It features a variety of shops offering international standard brands
and clothing, a choice of restaurants, theatres,
entertainment venues and cinemas... You literally can shop ‘till you
drop. The square is an outdoor area, where patrons frequent night and
day for the great dining and night life, that spills out onto the
pavement alfresco.
|
Victoria Wharf – V&A Waterfront: This is unique
shopping environment,l as the Victoria Wharf
Mall is situated within the V&A Waterfront which is a working
harbour. There are an abundance of shops, from designer boutiques to
food stalls, 2 large craft markets, and dozens of restaurants. With the
sea and buzz of the harbour to keep you entertained, and with the
backdrop of Table Mountain, this is a
really wonderful shopping experience.
|
The
Pavilion - Within a 15 minute drive of Durban’s CBD, the Pavilion
has a multitude of shops to tire the most experienced shopper. There
are also loads of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, as well as cinema
theatre. The Pavilion is a popular mall for Durbanites and has a busy
vibe day and night.
|
|
The
Mall of Rosebank - The moment you enter The Mall of
Rosebank you realise that you are in a different world: sophisticated,
tranquil and decidedly cosmopolitan, and offers a little something for
every discerning taste. The Mall of Rosebank is home to some of South Africa’s most
contemporary stores and adventurous entertaining attractions. The Mall
includes three storeys of shopping levels totaling over 30,000 square
metres, accessed from four levels of parking. There is also a formal
bazaar style African Craft Market located at the main entrance to The
Mall and offers the widest range of handmade products from the four
corners
of Africa .
|
Canal
Walk - is a 125 000 m² shopping centre in Cape Town, South Africa, built around
a series of canals. The centre forms the heart of a mixed-use
development known as Century City
, which includes office blocks, residential areas and the
Ratanga Junction theme park. Canal Walk is dedicated to providing the
ultimate shopping experience for visitors - both local and
international. With over 400 speciality stores to tempt you, including fashion,
homeware, gifts, jewellery, shoes, leather ware, music, arts and more,
Canal Walk offers a comprehensive shopping experience in Cape Town all under one
roof.
|
Gateway
- One of the biggest shopping retail outlets in Africa. Shoppers can
also enjoy unequaled recreational services and outdoor activities, such
as the Surf and Extreme Sports centre Wavehouse that features the
world’s first left and right-breaking wave. For adrenalin junkies there
is also the tallest indoor climbing wall in the world that stands at
24m. Other unique and entertainment features of the centre are: the
Barnyard theatre, KwaZulu-Natal’s only Imax theatre, and a science
centre, which offers both entertainment and education.
|
|
|
FAMILIES – WE’LL KEEP YOU ENTERTAINED
Again, in all three centres, there is loads to entertain the family…
Johannesburg
…is not only your passport to shopping pleasure, but there is also so many excursions that are great for the
whole family. Holiday Bazaar offers the following optional day
excursions, which repeatedly receive rave reviews from our passengers.
Why not take your family on one of these tours - there is a great mix of
history, culture and fun.
|
|
Cape Town
…caters for the families like no other – with so many exciting options
for the kids: Table Mountain; the beaches, fun in the vineyards - yes
kids too can enjoy the wine farms – with space to run around and gardens
to explore, and some of the wine farms like Spier Estate especially cater
for children, with a bird sanctuary and cheetah breeding project.
|
Durban
… is just a wonderful destination for kids, with a warm sunny climate
year round, the surf and sand beckoning – any child will exhaust their
energy along Durban’s miles of
beachfront – and the parents will have great fun to. uShaka
is Durban’s hottest
attraction! With a myriad of retail outlets and restaurants, a themed
water park with exhilarating rides (some that even float past a shark
tank), as well as a snorkel pool, aquarium deep within the bowels of a
shipwreck, and a dolphin and seal show – this is a fantastic venue to
loose yourself completely for the whole day! Down on the beach in front
of the theme park, one can take a helicopter flip off the edge of the
pier, or hire kayaks and head out into the blue yonder – there is just so
much to entertain you.
|
|
We do hope that we have given you a taste of the fun to be
had... not to mention the retail therapy one can indulge in, especially
with our fabulous shopping discount vouchers, exclusive to Holiday Bazaar. Please let us know if we can help you further.

Dubai Shoping Festival
1st January 2007 - 2nd Febuary 2007 |
 |
Every year, Dubai Shopping Festival lives
up to its promise of staging the most exciting activities for the whole
family inspired by the theme One World, One Family, One Festival. As universal
brotherhood, happiness, excitement, joy and adventure became the signature
trademarks of Dubai Shopping Festival. Dubai Shopping Festival is basically
a shopping paradise. Dubai is know around the world as such a paradise
throughout the year, but they really lay out the red carpet during shopping
festival month, with over 2,300 retails outlets participating, that offer
everything imaginable from gold, perfume, haute couture, cars, electronics
to handicrafts and textiles. Most hotels and appartments also get involved
offering special offers during the period, even the world famous Burj
Al Arab is included in the hotels. With all these special discounts available
many would feel that would suffice, but Dubai goes quite a few steps further.
They are scores of raffles that offer very attractive prices, and Emirates
and most other airlines flying out of Dubai offer discounted airfares
and much needed excess baggage allowances during the festival. There are
other events as well, including international fashion shows, children's
events, streetside performances, nightly fireworks, film festivals, and
many other cultural events that reflect the emirate's cosmopolitan character.
Plus one of the biggest events of them all, the Dubai World Cup also takes
place during the festival, and with a staggering US$ 12 million purse
that makes it the richest horse race in the world - not something to miss. |

Exotic Product Offering Expands Significantly with Australia, New Zealand
Sightings of koala bears, kangaroos and kiwi birds await holiday makers
sailing with Celebrity Cruises this year as the line sets sail for the
first time in Australia and New Zealand beginning 2007.
“This marks a significant expansion of our product portfolio, and
is particularly exciting because it’s a market our guests and agency
partners have told us they want to experience with Celebrity,” said
Dan Hanrahan, president, Celebrity Cruises. “Based on that valuable
feedback and our extensive research, we’re looking forward to a
very successful inaugural season there next year.” Celebrity's Mercury
will offer six 14-night open-jaw sailings between Auckland, New Zealand
and Sydney, Australia from December 2007 through March 2008. Among Celebrity’s
destinations “down under” are Auckland, Tauranga, Napier,
Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Milford
Sound, New Zealand, along with Melbourne, Newcastle, and Sydney, Australia,
and Hobart, Tasmania. The line's first calls on Papeete, Tahiti; and Moorea
and Bora Bora, French Polynesia, will precede Mercury’s six Australia/New
Zealand sailings on a 16-night voyage departing Honolulu on 23rd November
2007, concluding in Auckland.“Pairing such exotic destinations as
these with the extraordinary service and experience we offer onboard every
Celebrity ship is an unbeatable combination,” said Hanrahan.
